Hi, I’m Dr. Anna Cariello, a licensed psychologist and owner of Teen and Family Counseling of Utah. I have over fifteen years experience working with adolescents and adults, supporting individuals with their mental health and how our physical and emotional health are deeply connected.

My clinical work began with domestic violence survivors and perpetrators, focusing on trauma, relationships, and how patterns of harm are often learned early in life. At the same time, I worked closely with adolescents who were struggling with self-harm, suicidality, substance and alcohol overuse, and trauma through individual, family, and group therapy.

It was during this work, I discovered a deep passion for helping teens. As my practice expanded, I recognized how often mental health challenges show up alongside physical health conditions such as sleep difficulties, chronic pain, and disordered eating.

This led me to work in medical settings alongside physicians across many specialties, addressing the impact of illness, injury, and medical stress on emotional well-being.

I use evidence-based therapies, including cognitive behavioral therapy, interpersonal therapy, motivational interviewing, and cognitive processing therapy, tailoring treatment to each individual’s needs, values, and life experiences. My approach is strengths-based and collaborative.

When I work with you or your teen, treatment begins with a comprehensive assessment, followed by a clear, personalized plan.

For adolescents, parents are involved in the assessment process to support their teen and family as a whole.

If you’re wondering whether therapy might be a good fit, I invite you to schedule a free 15-minute consultation. A consultation is a simple, no-pressure way to talk through your concerns, ask questions, and decide on your next steps.

I’m glad you’re here, and I look forward to connecting with you.

Compassion Meets Expertise

“I became a psychologist because I believe everyone deserves to heal and grow, no matter how lost they may feel. Each person’s struggles are unique, shaped by their experiences, traumas, and cultural background. Therapy is a powerful tool to understand these roots, process emotions, and create meaningful change.”
